SHANGERS / CUSTOM COMPONENTS

Specify the opening as carefully as the body.

For a closed-end shell, the open rim is often the first feature a mating part encounters. The supplied photographs show both long and short forms. They are shape references, not a dimensional family or a guarantee of interchangeable fit.

Describe the rim interface

Show the outside rim diameter, opening diameter and the axial position of any step. Explain whether the rim locates the shell, seats against a surface or simply defines the opening. Do not assume a seal, pressure capability or retention force from the shape alone.

Define depth without ambiguity

State whether the important dimension is overall height or usable internal depth. Mark the reference surface and show any internal clearance needed at the closed end. A clear section view is useful when the mating component approaches the bottom of the shell.

SHELL / FOUR REFERENCES

Match material to forming requirements

Steel, stainless steel, aluminum or copper-alloy options can be reviewed against the geometry and application. The exact grade, starting thickness and production route need confirmation. The photographs do not establish wall thickness, alloy identity or whether every size can be made with the same tooling.

Short shell variants, not another angle of the long shell

Visible surfaces and finishing

Identify the cosmetic face and state whether forming marks are acceptable. Polishing, cleaning and compatible protective finishes can be discussed, with the impact on the rim interface included in the review. A bright sample should not be treated as a documented surface-roughness value.

Check the shape before repeat supply

Agree inspection points for the opening, rim, depth and any fit-critical diameter. Supply a mating part if the shell seats into another component. For packing, identify surfaces that need separation and whether nesting is acceptable; a protective packing method should be agreed for the actual size.
